Boulia Camel Races has gained the reputation as the best camel racing meet in Australia and its 1500m final on the Sunday of the meet is one of the longest races of its type.
Boulia Mayor Rick Britton said visitors are in for a jam-packed time filled with fun, great entertainment and edge of your seat racing.
"The Boulia Camel Races Committee has worked hard to present you with a fantastic event and we at the Boulia Shire Council are proud to be able to sponsor this magic weekend," Cr Britton said.
"Camel Races shows how community and even smaller groups of people can show case our patch of Queensland and Australia."
The event is on the weekend of July 16-18 but with thousands expected to flock to the tiny town camping at the Boulia Racecourse is available from Sunday July 11 to Wednesday July 21. Camping is included with a full weekend entry ticket.
The races will bring together some of the best camel trainers in Australia including Oakfield Ranch from Newcastle NSW, Glenda Sutton's Action Camels from Shepparton, Vic and several local contenders including Woodhouse Camels, Roman Czubak and Dannileah Stewart and Ronnie Calliope, who trained 2019 winner Wason.
There is plenty of entertainment including drag artist Wanda Dparke and the Crack Up Sisters on the Friday night and Luke Geiger and Bareback on the Saturday night.
There's also the camel rides and the famous camel tagging bringing hilarity to the proceedings on Saturday.
Camel racing heats for the 400m and 100m distances happen on the Saturday and Sunday will see the finals in the Quarter Mile Flyer (400m) and the big one, the Thirsty Camel Cup over 1500m.
