Council adopted the 2021/22 budget with a capital works program of $25 million at their special meeting on July 27.
Council said the budget had "minimal rate increases" with an average rise of 80c a week in rates and $1.55 a week in utilities.
Mayor Greg Campbell said Council has contained the rise to 5pc with wild variations in valuations of land by the Valuer-General.
"Rural properties jumped in value on the back of strong sales and residential valuations have dropped," Cr Campbell said.
Cr Campbell said the new budget provides a healthy capital works program, continued community support and would create economic growth through improved infrastructure, facilities and services.
"This budget continues the focus on existing assets including water, roads, sewer, and buildings. The upgrade to the Chinaman Creek Dam Recreation Area and pathway is still a priority, as well as improvements to Curry Kids and the Landfill," Cr Campbell said.
"For the first time in its history, Dajarra is receiving safe, treated water, with grant funding allocated to improve the overall water security for the community. Council will continue our strong support of community groups and events with approximately $2.5 million allocated directly to our community infrastructure and groups."
Coppermine Creek Bridge is planned to be replaced with the help of a $1.3m federal grant.
Other big ticket items in the budget include the Dajarra Airport reseal, lawn cemetery upgrade, a new grandstand at the Rec Grounds and $1.3m in new plant, with over half the work funded by external grants.
Cloncurry has also adopted a 2021-2026 Corporate Plan and 2021-2022 Operational Plan, outlining the vision, goals, outcomes and strategic actions for Council over the next five years.
Cr Campbell says the Corporate Plan gives Council a clear vision about where they want to be in five years.
"The vision is to create and maintain a safe and vibrant community for our families and businesses to thrive and prosper. Maintaining our critical infrastructure to an acceptable level and providing the services required by a modern country town are the foundation of the Plan. This Plan sets a direction of well-planned investment in community infrastructure to enhance the liveability and growth of our Shire and continues to position Cloncurry as a driver of positive change and prosperity in the region".
