With the Mount Isa City Council's decision to cancel next Wednesday's Street Parade, Ms Flecker reassured locals and visitors to Mount Isa that this year's event, will be delivered under a managed Covid Safe Event Plan approved by Queensland Health and the State Government.
"It's a challenging time for events across the country, but the Isa Rodeo Executive Team and Board have worked tirelessly to ensure not only with this year be another iconic event in the red dirt arena, but one that is a leader in covid safe event practices," Ms Flecker said. "We have worked hard to ensure that we will create a safe but fun environment for all our visitors, staff, judges and competitors."
Ms Flecker said tickets were still on sale and accommodation is available, including the Mount Isa Mines onsite Tent City.
"The Mount Isa Mines Rodeo is Mount Isa's only major event and is an important community fundraising platform," she said.
"The Mount Isa Mines Rodeo is expected to inject more than $10 million into the local economy. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Buchanan Park from Thursday to Sunday, August 12 to 15.
The Rodeo arena got its first workout on Saturday when the Ball attracted a full house of 500 guests who raised $17,600 for the North Queensland Domestic Violence Resource Service.
"Thank you to all who made this possible, it is most welcomed and appreciated in our community," the Rodeo said.
