The annual bush poets breakfast has been a tradition of the Thursday of Rodeo Week for the last two decades or so and will be on again to a sell-out audience tomorrow morning bright and early at the Terrace Gardens in Mount Isa.
Zonta Club of Mount Isa's Sue Wicks, who organises the event each year, says that while the club only breaks even from the event, it is important for the name recognition of the club.
"The bush poets breakfast is one of the two big events we organise each year along with the international women's day dinner," Ms Wicks said.
"And it's our way of contributing to rodeo week."
As per previous editions Cloncurry bush poet laureate Keith Douglas will don the Akubra and Driza-bone to host the event and provide samples of his own witty poetry while there will be returns from poets of previous years such as Pat Fennell and Veronica Griffin while Ms Wicks said there would be three new poets added to the bill this year.
Less impressively, Derek Barry will also be back on stage this year too.
