After being cancelled in 2020, The Festival runs from Thursday to Sunday September 2021 9-12 and is an opportunity for locals and tourists to come together and celebrate Cloncurry's mining and pastoral history.
Beat the Heat Festival consists of a Live Cabaret performance, Street Party, Spring Races and Markets.
The fun starts on the Thursday with the CLINTS Come Again Reunion Cabaret.
Showing the Shire Hall it tells the story of the CLINTS, an all-80s, all-cousin, all-Queensland cover band who are making a tilt for Eurovision as Australia's wildcard entry. Lots of laughs are guaranteed with tickets available at Try Booking.
The annual festival street party will return to Scarr Street on the Friday.
Brad Cox will be headlining the event, supported by The Wet Whistles. Paw Patrol will be there to entertain the kids with a live performance and meet and greet opportunites. Celebrity Chef Dominique Rizzo will also be there for a Curry Cooking Masterclass.
Fan favourites, the Curry Cook Off and Mine Cart Rally are back along with plenty of food vendors and free children's amusements.
It's followed by the Spring races at Shumacher Park on Saturday and Sunday markets at Mary K Park.
Mayor Greg Campbell said the festival celebrated Cloncurry's rich agricultural and mining history.
"Ernest Henry have two teams lined up for mine cart racing and we'll be putting the call out to the other mines," Cr Campbell said.
"It's not just about mining, the challenges that are in the race are about our railway and agricultural history too."
