Police are reminding people road safety is everyone's responsibility after an enforcement operation in Normanton revealed an alarming number of offences.

Sgt Paul Quinlan said officers from the Mount Isa District Road Policing Unit travelled to Normanton between September 9 and September 13 to provide high visibility traffic enforcement patrols.
"Over the course of the trip a high number of motorists were detected committing traffic offences," Sgt Quinlan said.
"In total, 28 infringement notices were issued for various offences, including the Fatal Five offences of speeding and not wearing a seat belt. Further to this, three drink drivers and two unlicensed drivers were also detected."
A 19-year-old Mount Isa man was intercepted for a roadside breath test and subsequently provided a breath sample of 0.096 per cent BAC. He was charged with drink driving and is due to appear at the Cloncurry Magistrates Court on October 14.
A 41-year old Townsville man was detected driving at 133km/h in a 100km/h zone. The man subsequently provided a breath sample of 0.059 per cent BAC. He was charged with drink driving and speeding and is due to appear at the Cloncurry Magistrates Court on October 14.
A 26-year old Atherton man was intercepted for a RBT, and subsequently provided a breath sample of 0.135 per cent BAC. He was charged with drink driving and is due to appear at the Normanton Magistrates Court on October 11.
A 19-year old Borambil man was detected driving at 146km/h in a 100km/h zone. He was issued a $1286 infringement notice for speeding and will have his licence suspended for 6-months.
A 40-year old Mareeba man was intercepted driving a motorcycle for a RBT. Subsequent checks identified the man did not hold a valid licence. He was charged with unlicensed driving and is due to appear at the Normanton Magistrates Court on October 11.
