Nadia Cowperthwaite, a staffer for Bob Katter, had her head shaved on Sunday at the Isa Hotel with around 30 people watching.
"Tamara from Jo's Quality Hair kindly donated her time and expertise to do the job," Nadia said.
"So far I've raised $1800 for Black Dog Institute who do research into mental health. Donations have been from friends and family plus the wider community including people who were enjoying a beverage at the Isa and some reached through social media including Craig Scriven's Isa_minelife TikTok with 250k followers."
Nadia said she had her own battles with mental health over the years.
"I wanted to help raise money for something that is close to my heart," she said.
"While mental health professionals do an amazing job there definitely needs to be more research."
Nadia had originally signed up for Tonka Toholke's world record shave but had already received donations when it was cancelled so decided to go ahead anyway.
"On the back of the motor show I was a bit exhausted so it took a bit of organizing to get it all together but I'm lucky that the Isa Hotel and Jo's Quality Hair were keen to help out," she said.
