Queensland Police Deputy Commissioner Paul Taylor joined local officers as well as fellow emergency service personnel and other dignitaries at the Mount Isa Catholic Church for a service officiated by police chaplain Father Mick Lowcock.
Deputy Commissioner Taylor read out a speech by Commissioner Katarina Carroll which paid tribute to Snr Const Dave Masters who lost his life in June responding to a suspected stolen vehicle when he was struck on the Bruce Highway at Burpengary, north of Brisbane.
Deputy Commissioner Taylor said it was a great honour to attend the Mount Isa service and he planned to head to Cloncurry later in the day to give out the same message to officers there.
"Sadly we can't hold the traditional marches that usually occur on this day, but it is important to come together in any way we can," Deputy Commissioner Taylor.
"Today we pause and honour and reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice across the country.
"We also acknowledge the commitment, dedication and bravery of all past, present and future police officers."
Father Mick Lowcock said it was important to be optimistic and persevere in the face of adversity.
Officers including Acting Superintendent Jason Smith read out the names of those who had passed away since the last Remembrance Day and he and fellow officers and Mayor Danielle Slade laid floral tributes.
