Woolf has been head coach of English rugby league St Helen's for the last two years and led them to back-to-back grand final successes as well as the Challenge Cup this season.
The Sydney Daily Telegraph has outlined Woolf's successes in the UK as the pedigree of success that NRL clubs want.
Woolf is also the head coach of Tonga leading them to a famous win against New Zealand and a semi-final berth at the 2017 World Cup.
Though Woolf has always spoken about his happiness in Lancashire there are reports his family are keen to go back home to Australia after the 2022 Super League season has ended.
Kristian is the son of another Mount Isa legend: Rod Woolf, who when he died in 2014 was remembered as a "selfless swimming coach".
Kristian played for the Souths Magpies in Brisbane between 1996 and 1997 before becoming Townsville Brothers assistant coach in 2002 and then coaching the Townsville Blackhawks.
He has some experience coaching in the NRL as he was temporarily drafted in as Newcastle Knights coach in 2019 near the end of the season.
Woolf has earned many admirers for his success at St Helens having taken over from Grand Final-winning boss Justin Holbrook before he left for the Gold Coast Titans at the end of 2019.
