From the first bid to the final hammer, willing buyers from Biloela to Cloncurry and Alice Springs were raising their fingers to secure genetics from the Walker family's 21st on-property sale.
The first 10 bulls sold for an average of $25,900, including three to the Pearson family's Bull Creek Pty Ltd for an average of $41,666.
They bought the first two bulls in the catalogue for $40,000 each, along with lot 4, Strathmore Reclaimer R330C (PP) for the sale's top price of $45,000.
The son of Strathmore Maestro M354 (AI) (P) and Strathmore J473, the 21-month-old bull weighed 760kg and had an average daily liveweight gain of 1.17kg.
Stud principal Ian Walker said the bull had been one of his picks, and had looked good ever since he was a weaner.
"He has a lovely conformation - he'll really go ahead when the Pearsons get him home," he said.
The sale, which grossed $1,683,000 and averaged $14,509 plus 100pc clearance of the 116 bulls offered, was Strathmore's best result ever.
Mr Walker said it was also their best line of bulls.
"I think being big enough to put up a big line is a real help - there's no tail," he said.
Breaking the result down, 71 classified bulls sold for an average of 16,000, while the 45 herd bulls sold for a $12,155 average price.
While the sale benefited from loyal repeat support, new buyers included de Burgh and Margery Joyce, Southend, Theodore, who purchased five bulls for an average $15,600.
They had purchased from Strathmore before, when they sold as part of the Cumberland sale, but Mr Joyce said it was their first time around the sale ring at Ravensbourne.
"We were looking for four bulls and ended up buying five," he said. "We haven't brought in new genetics for a while and felt we wanted to buy from a big herd and an established stud."
Paraway Pastoral Co was another new buyer and made its presence felt with 23 purchases.
Representative Cheyne Williams said he had come down to inspect the bulls and liked what he saw, especially the bulls' shape, evenness and temperament.
The company is using Santa Gertrudis bulls over Brangus heifers and will be using the new sire prospects at Clonagh Station, Cloncurry.
Another volume buyer was Sandover Pastoral Co, based at Amaroo Station, Alice Springs, but also with Mt Calder and South Terrick at Blackall.
Company representative Stewart Weir said they were good bulls that suited their part of the world.
Buying eight bulls each were Twin Hills Cattle Co, Elgin Downs, Clermont, and Mistake Creek Cattle Co, Twin Hills, Clermont.
