It's an unvaccinated man who lives on the Gold Coast who is now on oxygen in hospital and believed to have been in the community for 10 days.
Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young says the man is in his 30s and came to Queensland from Melbourne on October 10.
"He is so sick, this is a man in his 30s, he is so sick that we're having difficulties, talking to him and getting information from him," Dr Young said.
He went to the Robina Hospital emergency department Wednesday where he was tested. The man is a rideshare driver, which means he could has passed the virus on though in a statement Uber said the man had not driven with them since September 19.
Dr Young says his illness makes it hard to communicate, or list exposure sites. He hasn't used QR check-in since September 18.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said there's no plan for a localised lockdown at this stage.
"The vaccination rates there are quite good, but we need to see more so, like, if anyone has any symptoms on the Gold Coast, it is absolutely critical that you go and get tested," the Premier said.
The premier says it was unclear how the man got into Queensland from Victoria without quarantining.
"The police will be looking at that as you can appreciate."
There were 7616 tests in the past 24 hours.
