Touring regional Queensland, Merryipor is this star of the musical version of The Sapphires and she is entertaining communities with a free workshop and concert funded by Arts Queensland.
'Some Kind of Wonderful' is be Lorinda's third tour around Queensland, in which she reaches out to children in the outback to tell them of her story of success.
As a young girl growing up in Rockhampton, Lorinda was always singing and dancing and has been living her dream of doing it professionally for the past four years.
Since graduating from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, she has been kept busy with roles in productions such as Beautiful: The Carol King Musical, Rent and American Idiot.
These workshops are highly interactive, as Lorinda teaches her audience acting techniques, dance moves and gives the opportunity for children to perform alongside her. Her charisma and powerful voice capture the attention of all ages, she takes their song requests, moves amongst them and makes them feel they are part of the show. Her message to them is to follow your dreams, as she did, and that they too, can have a career in the arts if it is what they want.
Merryipor played a workshop and concert at the Cloncurry Shire Hall on Tuesday, October 19.
