To celebrate their last Girl Guide meet this year, the Mount Isa junior Girl Guides took a trip to Kmart, to choose and donate gifts to those less fortunate through the Wishing Tree appeal.
Dedicating a portion of their annual fees and forgoing a few activities, the group were able to choose presents for boys and girls less fortunate this Christmas.
Guide leader Jarli, Leanne Griffiths, said being a Girl Guide was all about helping others while learning new skills and making friends.
"Letting the team join the Kmart Wising Tree Appeal this year was a wonderful way for them to learn about helping others, while celebrating Christmas themselves," Mrs Griffiths said.
"I'm very proud of the group, they really considered who they were buying for and were very excited to give to others this Christmas."
Junior Girl Guide Olive Taylor, 7, said it was her first year of being a Girl Guide, and the first time she had joined the Wishing Tree Appeal.
"It was really good to be able to pick a present for someone else and think about them opening their present on Christmas morning," Olive said.
"Some people might not get a present for Christmas, but now they might get a present from us."
