The inaugural MPX (Mineral Province eXpo) is a new mining conference coming to Mount Isa on July 12 to 14, in replace of the former MineX.
Commerce North West president Emma Harman said Mount Isa had outgrown MineX and had established a new conference to showcase the North West Minerals Province.
"Instead of solely having booths at an expo, the main focus is the conference and engaging community and stakeholders in this year's theme, The North West Minerals Province: Where The Good News Stories Keep Coming," Ms Harman said.
"The conference will showcase speakers who are highlighting all the good news and developments out of the North West. Whether that is traditional mining like Gold and Copper exploration or if it's new developments like the vanadium, new technology and new advancements."
Ms Harman said the expo would still be a part of the conference, however those who wished to have a booth must sponsor the MPX to secure a spot.
"This year is a sponsored conference. If you would like to exhibit in the expo you need to sponsor the event," she said.
"Because of the style of event, sponsorship is a way that we can manage everyone's needs rather then having separate exhibitors, delegates, speakers.
"The conference speakers are really starting to come together with several groups looking at having a panel during their sessions.
"The conference MC has been locked in as Andrew Barger who works for the Queensland Resources Council as their Policy Director-Economics. His portfolio covers economics, royalties & tax; infrastructure issues - rail, ports, water and electricity; energy and climate change; and tracking industry's annual local contribution to the Queensland economy through our unique postcode data."
The program of events currently include:
- Tuesday July 12 - Welcome drinks in the evening
- Wednesday July 13: Conference and Expo, State of Origin- Game 3 and drinks in the evening
- Thursday July 14 - Conference and Expo, field trips in the afternoon
