The 24-year-old finished seventh overall in Open B and 11th in the college class.
Lincoln says he has been riding motorbikes and four-wheelers since he could walk, but took it up professionally in 2013.
“I started riding pro class, and I’ve just been saving since I started my apprenticeship. So I saved for six years and went over to America to race in the series,” Lincoln said.
Although he can’t make enough money going pro, Lincoln is happy as a qualified diesel fitter in Mount Isa.
Raised in Boulia, Cody said he grew up riding two wheelers with his friends, before making transitioning to ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles).
“I started riding four wheelers and really liked them, and started doing some local races here,” Lincoln said.
“It was something different, no one else was really doing it. I started getting the hang of it and it turned out I was pretty good.
“They are a lot harder to control, and a lot more dangerous I suppose.”
Cody’s father, Shane, built him an amazing track on their property in Boulia, which became the athlete’s best friend.
“He was still at school, and he would come home in the holidays and ride it eight hours a day, to get as good as he could,” Shane said.
“I think that helped a lot,” Cody said.
“I don’t get that much time to ride compared to others, I work a lot. I do put in the hours when I can,” he said.
After being invited to compete at the Australian Championships in the Gold Coast in 2013, Lincoln placed second in 2015 in Alice Springs and seventh earlier this year at Murray Bridge.
“I had a few dramas, a few spin outs this year, but it’s all part of it,” Lincoln said.
No Australian track drama compared to the mighty AMA ATV series, though.
“The jumps over in America are huge, just massive. It’s hard being in Australia because gaps between jumps are illegal, so you can’t do any doubles, but in America they have triples that are huge. It’s hard to get ready for that,” he said.
Lincoln is shipping his fourth new race bike back from the USA this month.
