The system has now moved well east of Mount Isa but heavy rainfall is expected for parts of the northwestern interior through Monday.

A slow-moving low pressure system is currently near Cloncurry and is expected to shift slowly towards the north-northwest through Monday and Tuesday.
Areas of heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash flooding, are expected to accompany the low as it shifts slowly to the north-northwest during the next 24 hours.

The areas of heavy rain will be largely confined to the eastern side of the low and six-hour rainfall totals in excess of 90mm are possible.
Locations which may be affected include Julia Creek, McKinlay, Richmond and Cloney's Creek.
Scattered 24-hour rainfall totals between 75mm to 125mm are likely, with isolated falls up to 200mm possible.
Rainfall rates are expected to gradually ease during Tuesday as the low weakens.

Roads closed include: Julia Creek to Cloncurry, (60km West of Julia Creek), Punchbowl Road (from end of sealed road north), Burke & Wills Development Road (Road closed 78km North of Flinders Highway and Burke and Wills Road House, McKinlay to Cloncurry (Water over the road North of McKinlay River), Cloncurry-Dajarra Rd (60km south of Cloncurry).
Lake Julius is now spilling at 110 percent capacity while Lake Moondarra is at 60 percent.
With Chinaman Dam also filling and spilling, Cloncurry Shire Council is expected to end water restrictions this week.
