The North West Star is based in Mount Isa and covers all of North West Queensland from the Gulf to the Simpson Desert, from Hughenden to the NT border and beyond.
We cover a vast region the size of a European country but with a population of 35,000.
Since 1966 the North West Star has been the voice of the region and continues to provide a strong outlet to advance one of the great engines of the Australian economy delivering in mining, agriculture and tourism.
The great city of Mount Isa in particular is associated with the mining industry but is gradually diversifying its economy as befits the largest city in Queensland west of the Great Dividing Range, and is strategically located halfway between Brisbane and Darwin and between Townsville and Darwin.
The North West Star aims to help build the community, by keeping them strong, informed and connected, by delivering quality storytelling and stunning photography.
