A FIRST half onslaught by Blazers set up for a strong 38-27 victory when they went head-to-head with Pumas in Mount Isa Basketball Association action this week.

Blazers came out firing in the round 12 clash, dominating the key with shooting and rebounding to take a 10-4 lead at the first break.
Sarah Hankin, Lisa Parker and Chontelle George shared the ball around in the second quarter to give Blazers a 21-3 margin at half-time.
Both teams rallied in defence after the break, forcing handling errors and inaccuracy under the net.
Pumas played strongly in the fourth quarter for a 9-all score line but were unable to overcome the points differential carved out by Blazers early in the game.
Parker top-scored for the victorious Blazers with 17 points, assisted by Hankin with 10 and George with eight.
Trish Ellis was the best on the scoreboard for Pumas with 10 points.
In the second A women game, a 24-point second half from Celtics paved the way for an easy 38-24 win against Matariki.
The Celtics B women team rounded out a good night for the club with a 53-27 annihilation of Kinetic when they matched-up in the 7pm game.
Katrina Rankine led the way for the victors with 19 points for the game, and Christine Bober and Simone Sprenkeler contributed 12 and 11 respectively.
Teresa Hodgetts sank 10 points for Kinetic while Carmen Preston chipped in with 13, including an impressive three-pointer early in the first quarter.
The closest round 12 game was fought out in the B women clash between High Landers and Blazers B, with only three points separating the teams when the final buzzer sounded. Despite being outplayed 8-3 in the first quarter, High Landers took advantage of opportunities in the second and third quarters to eke out a 23-20 win.
Lisa Seabourne topped the scorers for High Landers with 13 points.
In the first of the round's C women matches, Dreamers dominated from the initial whistle to run away with a 27-4 victory against Meteorettes.
Dreamers were impressive in defence, holding their opponent scoreless in the second and final quarters.
Sereana Pratap matched her number 12 singlet by putting a dozen points on the scoreboard for Dreamers.
Colts took on Kinetic 2 in the final game of round 12 and were hurt by inaccuracy in the key, going down 25-16.
Trailing 14-8 at half-time, Colts had the opportunity to make it a two-point game at the main break but failed to capitalise on four free throw attempts. Strong defence from both teams was a highlight of the game, ensuring players were rushed with their shots. At times, the match resembled a 40-minute rebound practice, with Colts and Kinetic 2 players leaping to contest wayward shots at both ends of the court.
