Matariki led from the opening centre pass to the final hooter at Wellington Park, eventually running out 63-32 winners.
The much-anticipated game drew a larger than average crowd to court eight, and the frenetic speed of the game didn't fail to deliver.
The quality of play was visibly superior to that of any game this season, with the ball moving at record speed up and down the court.
Strikers proved competitive in the first term, falling behind by just six-points before Matariki let loose.
The netball juggernauts scored 35-points to 15 in the next two quarters, breaking the backs of their opponents.
Bonnie MacRae finished with 28 goals for the winners while Liz McComb dominated the centre position.
Meanwhile, 2PH Shots edged out Victorious Secrets by just eight-points with a third quarter onslaught.
The first half was extremely competitive, with 2PH holding a slender three-point advantage before shutting the gate in the third term with a blistering 11-4 run.
Victorious Secrets tried valiantly in the final quarter, but came up short in their comeback attempt.
It was a similar story for HV&IS, who led by just one-point at halftime before running away with the game following an impressive third quarter.
HV&IS kept Stingers to just one-point in the quarter, while scoring 10 of their own to open up a double digit advantage.
The game of the round saw 2PH Redbacks and Matariki B share the spoils, finishing locked at 33-33.
The two teams were tied at 25-25 at the final break, but neither side was able to gain the upper-hand.
Matariki held a two-point lead at the first change of ends, but 2PH Redbacks fought back over the following two terms to erase the deficit.
