Livai, 8, and Alyssa, 9, were part of the Mount Isa Judo Association team that travelled to Townsville earlier this month. The girls won their respective categories.
The pair won all four and five of their fights respectively, while MIJA coach Pena - who hails from Chile - illustrated his class by easily winning the gold medal in the under-100 kilogram division.
Pena - who knew very little English when he arrived in Mount Isa - has been training and coaching with MIJA for more than a year.
Lachlan Hume joined the party by winning silver, only succumbing to defeat in the last of his gold medal fights.
Allan Hazel, who has been practising judo for 12 months, was beaten by a black-belt fighter in his gold-medal match.
Luke Joubert, Sophie Greenhalgh, Holly Greenhalgh, Ashleigh Hazel and Lochlan Hazel came away with bronze medals for their efforts.
MIJA coach Dave Edgar said he was pleasantly surprised with how well his team faired at the games.
``I'm really proud of how they all performed,'' he said.
``For some of them it was their first contest, and they did a good job.
``I was surprised with some performances, some of the gold medals surprised me because we're so inexperienced.''
Edgar said the club would focus its attention on sending a team to the September state titles.
