It has enabled the club to enter sides in every age group from under seven to under 15s, with a hope of under 17s next season.
The 15 boys headed to Townsville this weekend to compete in the under-11 Laurie Spina Shield optimise the sportsmanship of this club.
Club member Sue Nott emphasises that sportsmanship was something the whole club prided itself on.
``At last year's Laurie Spina Shield, we were recognised by officials for having great sportsmanship, something we want to continue,'' she said.
``The shield's motto is to have fun and play fair, so we'll be doing just that again this year.''
Of the 15 boys attending the carnival, only six players attended last year, with this being the first season of league for some.
``We have a real mix of experience in the group with some having played for a couple of seasons and others being first years,'' Nott said.
``But with training twice a week and regular games, we have seen significant improvement by all our players.'' Accompanying the side to Townsville will be coach Bruce Nott, manager Shayden Kerekere, first-aid officer Allan Blythe and LeagueSafe officer Ray Stowers, along with numerous parents.
Without the support of families and sponsors, opportunities like this wouldn't be available to the children, Nott said.
Sponsors such as 2PH Contracting and North West Crane along with constant fund-raising have made the task of getting there easier. ``This year we have been fortunate enough to buy full team uniforms and back packs for the players, which the boys are thrilled about,'' Nott said.
Mount Isa rugby league product Scott Prince has even jumped on board to support the club in recent times.
``Scott has been very supportive in the past and future coaching clinics are currently being discussed,'' Nott said.
