The 23-year-old went into the final on a high after smashing his own world record in the heat with a one minute 57.16 swim.
In the final on Sunday morning, (Aust time) he continued his winning way with a one minute.57.89 swim to clinch gold ahead of Hamer of England and Thomas of Wales.
Daniel Fox's gold medal was the first of the night for Australia's swim team when he comprehensively won the 200 metre freestyle (S8) final.
Fox set himself the task of breaking the world record in the heats, which he successfully achieved when he won in one minute 57.16, and wanted to repeat the dose in the final. However, he fell just short winning in 1:57.89. Fellow Australians Mitchell Kilduff (2:01.37) and Josh Alford (2:03.43) finished fourth and sixth respectively.
