Junior Cricket is made up players 8-14 years old, from almost every school in Mount Isa.
There are around 30 children involved this year, with steady numbers from 2016.
Saturday’s game at Sunset Oval ran from from 7am to 11.30am, a long stint for young players but junior cricket co-ordinator Tracy Jones says they’re up for it.
“Our juniors are amazing, they are willing to go out there and play in 40 degree heat,” Tracy said.
“We’re playing a normal game of cricket, there’s also T20 blasts which are much quicker.
Fellow co-ordinator and coach Rick Bell was umpiring, and said they played a good game despite the heat.
The junior season finishes soon, with an end of season presentation on March 17 at Sunset Oval from 6pm.
A second junior team run by Queensland Cricket, Milo Cricket, is for younger less experienced players aged 6-16 years old.
