Travelling around north Queensland, Brandee Ferguson and Maisy Hetherington have been competing at as many events before they compete at finals from June 18 to 24.
Brandee will compete in the breakaway roping, barrel racing, pole bending, team and ribbon roping and said she was excited to travel abroad.
“I have competed in the Junior High School Finals over the last two years but unfortunately have not placed,” she said.
“The competition is very stiff over there but my goal is to place in the barrels.”
For Maisy, she will compete in the pole bending, breakaway roping and ribbon roping.
“This is my first time competing abroad and for the national finals,” she said.
“I am excited but nervous about competing, ideally I would like to place in the breakaway.”
Both girls have hired horses through an American company to compete on while they are over there.
Although Brandee is using horses that she has previously ridden, Maisey has been riding different horses to prepare her for anything.
Both girls qualified for America after placing in the top four of their events at the Australian finals held in Charters Towers back in March.
