Ticket holders will have the opportunity to meet special guest, rugby union and former Australian Rugby World Cup player Tim Horan AM. The ex-Wallaby will be guest speaker for the night having the honour of presenting the winners of the cattle sections and the sausage competition.
A member of the World Rugby Hall of Fame, Horan was considered to be one of the best rugby centres during his playing career.
Cloncurry Show president Drew Hacon said entries for the cattle section have picked up this year.
“The cattle prices are up and the season has been good; we’ve also had JBS come on board as the gold sponsor of the event which has allowed us to have some attractive prizes,” he said.
More than $7000 in prizes and trophies are available across all the categories, including the Bull Creek Trophy for Champion Pen of the Show.
Show goers more attuned to animals of the feathered variety can also view the winners of the poultry and caged birds during the show.
