Co-organiser Scott Crawford said the event will be held at the entertainment centre at Buchanan Park. The previous events held in April and last September were held at the Mount Isa Basketball Stadium.
“It’s to freshen things up. Keep things fresh,” Crawford said.
The organisers would work on installing lighting over the boxing ring and was looking at sponsorship to manage it. The lighting would ensure the main focus was on the fights.
Fighters nominations were now open. Crawford was seeking 12 senior bouts and five junior bouts for the night. He said the event was “reaching out” to fighters from Barcaldine, Alice Springs, Townsville, Cloncurry and Brisbane.
PCYC boxing coach James Derrick welcomed having a local fight night in his “own backyard”.
