The score in the game in Round 10 was 12.13 (85) Buffs to 10.8 (68) Rovers.
Buffs captain Evan Magnus returned from injury after suffering from a dislocated shoulder, although he still had the strapping. “”I did not really notice it while playing. I kind of forget about it.”
Magnus returned to the ruck in the second quarter. He noticed that the Rovers had a different line-up to their regulars in the midfield, opting for bigger players which controlled the play in that first quarter and taking the lead by 20 points.
“We started with a pretty small midfield and nobody (in Buffs) would have been over 70 kg. They (Rovers) had a heap of big blokes in the middle and they were just killing it.”
Buffs switched it around and took more control in the second quarter on.
“We are sticking to a game plan which is taking a while to get to the point where it is normal for us,” Magnus said.
The back line had been accountable to their men, sticking to them “like glue”. The mid fielders booted it deep into Rovers territory to reach the Buffs forwards, the captain said.
