Today, the thriving Mount Isa business remains one step ahead of competitors by implementing innovative technology, yet remaining customer-focused at its core.
Owner Shaine Hunter said the “one-stop-security-shop” tries to diversify to meet clients’ changing needs.
“We don’t like to use the word no we can’t do that, we’re always trying to look at helping people by looking into creating new solutions for our customers,” he said.
The locksmiths have a large client base from small repetitive customers to large companies who need restrictive blocking systems.
“We service a lot of North Queensland and the staff get to travel far and wide with 10 employees,” he said.
Shaine said what sets them apart is a “willingness to look outside the box for different solutions.”
The locksmiths provide safes, electronic access control, CCTV, alarms and monitoring.
“We can deal with everyone’s security access in one hit,” he said.
Shaine said the company were keen to explore new business ventures including electronic blocking solutions.
“It’s taking off for people wanting more high security, cameras, products and technology is getting better all time,” he said. “Most homes are not far off from being self-automated.”
Shaine said security was paramount as a result of an increasing crime rate throughout society.
“It’s not like the days of old, now there are a lot of opportunists and crimes happening,” he said.
“With all the laws and regulations CCTV is more important for the reputation (of businesses) in terms of offering security because it’s easier to find the criminal if you can identify them.
“People are wanting high security cameras, products and technology.”
Shaine feels proud of Mount Isa.
“We love Mount Isa and people who don’t like it here don’t tend to do well here but we do indeed,” he said.
“We’ve ridden the highs and worn the lows.
“I love having our own family business also looking where our industry takes us.”
Shaine advises people to stay security savvy.
“Ensure each time they go out to lock the doors and windows,” he said.“Get deadlocks installed on doors and locks and security screens on windows.”
