Brown was originally expected to return from an ankle injury for the Eels on Sunday against the Wests Tigers, but that was put back to the following week against Cronulla.

Having spent the past two weeks on the sidelines, Brown has been able to see better than most where things need to change for the Eels' big men after their 0-6 start to 2018.

Largely unchanged from the side who took it to Melbourne in last year's qualifying final, Brown admitted his pack had to cop and accept criticism they'd been monstered in the opening rounds.

But after Sunday's win against Manly - where they had the advantage of far more possession than in earlier - Brown was confident they'd turned a corner.

"I think we were just going too one out," Brown admitted.

"We weren't hitting together or running together. We were just doing every man for themselves out there.

"It's no secret we were playing together as a forward pack (in 2017).

"There's that many good forwards out there these days that, if you just go one out, you get dominated. We've got to go hunt as a pack and work as a pack."

Brown had been Parramatta's best forward this year before being injured against Penrith but played on, averaging a squad-high 121 metres per game with nine tackle busts.

His inclusion would have been big for the Eels against the Tigers. He hopes to return against the Sharks as the Eels attempt to resurrect their season.

"It's maybe a couple of weeks away. I'm just trying to get it right for next week - that's my aim," he said.

"This week was the plan. But a couple of things didn't go to plan. So now, I've just got to aim for next week."
