Mount Isa’s Sikaran Martial Arts teamed up with the pistol for a “come and try day” fundraiser on Sunday morning.
For $10 locals could shoot off 20 rounds.
Sikaran fundraising coordinator Marilyn Roche said the Pistol Club allowed them to host the event and provided instructors, firearms and ammunition.
“Apart from using this day to raise funds for our Eskrimadors who are representing Mount Isa and Australia on the world stage, it is also a membership drive for the Pistol Club,” Ms Roche said.
The Eskrimadors are heading off to the world titles in Hawaii this July.
Last year six Mount Isa fighters competed at nationals in Townsville and returned with eight medals and six places on the Australian National Team.
Sikaran President Dallas Farnsworth the club studies two styles of Filipino martial arts, Sikaran karate and doce pares stick fighting.
