Town beat Brothers as MIRL celebrates NRL Indigenous round

The Mount Isa Rugby League celebrated NRL Indigenous Round with a performance at Alex Inch Oval by the Kalkatunga Sundowner dancers.

The dancers were joined on the field for a special group photo with the players from the laides game as well as the players from Town and Brothers and match officials.

In the game of the two unbeaten teams, premiers Towns were proving too strong for an improved Brothers and holding them out 20-6 after an hour when a Townies player suffered a neck injury that caused a long delay while they waited for an ambulance.

The game was eventually abandoned and the points awarded to Town.

Over in Cloncurry the game with Black Stars was abandoned due to the crash that closed the Barkly Hwy on Saturday afternoon.

The game has been rescheduled to the Eddie Lee Field at 4pm Sunday (today).
