The classic is the premiere event of the year for the club and there are only a few days left to register.
Riders must navigate a gruelling track consisting of 55km of rugged terrain for more experienced competitors and a 20km trail for those new to the sport and social riders. Junior competitors from as young as five years are also encouraged to bring their bikes out and have a go on the two kilometre course around Rosebud Dam.
Club spokesman Adrian Cameron said the course made its way from Rosebud Dam through some challenging but startlingly beautiful ranges and gorges through to the Wee MacGregor tunnel and on to the halfway checkpoint at Fountain Springs.
“Race preparations are coming along well and the guys have been out checking the track,” Mr Cameron said.
“We are encouraging people to register early but last minute entries will be taken until 12pm Friday, May 25,” he said.
Last year, more than 50 riders tested their skills and endurance on the course.
Stack City MTB president Reece Cooper led the field home in 2 hours and 45 minutes closely followed by Matt Norman and Steven Jenje.
In the ladies full course event Michelle Ball took the cup. The junior short course event provided a few surprises with Luke Bryant home first with Bailey Foschi and Lucas Marino about twenty minutes behind.
The senior ladies short course event saw Lyn Roughan take the chequered flag in 1 hour 13 minutes, 5 and 10 minutes ahead of Kelsie Waller and Sandra Foshci. Josie Green and Jarrod Moore won their Dirtmasters under 12s events with crossing the line in under 10 minutes.
Registration is $110 for seniors and $88 for junior riders. Information on the Fountain Springs Facebook page.
