The quirky event has become a popular fixture on the schedule, with blokes putting their mechanical and driving skills to the test in the challenging race. Four teams competed in the three lap race, but there could only be one winner, with the Angry Grasshoppers taking the prize.
It was second time lucky for the team of Jack Stewart-Moore, and Angus and Stuart Propstring, who competed with the same machine last year but did not finish.
“It’s the same beast but we had a bigger engine, bigger fuel tank, smaller tyres,” team-captain Angus said.
“It’s a 1986 vintage, been through three generations of poor unloved children, forced slave labour, but we got there in the end and we’re very proud of it.
“It’s a basic Victor with an XR200 in it, with two not very good welders in the shed with beers achieving dreams.
“Old equipment ridden hard, it wins every time.”
