It’s a running and walking craze that has taken off across Australia with two events created in North West Queensland alone in the past 12 months, now parkrun is coming to a third centre in our region.

Run under the auspices of parkrun Australia they are free, weekly, 5km timed runs at many locations across the country and indeed, the world. They are open to everyone, held in pleasant parklands and are safe and easy to take part in.
The parkrun will take place on Gunnalunja Drive along the banks of the Nicholson River.
Briefing for the first parkrun starts at 6:45am for a 7am start. Then after the run join organisers for a barbecue breakfast and drink.
“All welcome. Run, Jog, Walk or Crawl,” organisers said on the Doomadgee parkrun Facebook page.
