Sophie World has over 30 years of experience in classical ballet, jazz, tap, hip hip, and acrobatics.
Previously, she has competed in Eisteddfods around Queensland and has danced professionally as well.
Ms World said dancing has always been a big part of her life.
“When I arrived in Normanton I put out an expression of interest to find out if anyone would be interested in dance classes. The response I got was phenomenal,” she said.
“There were so many people excited that I’m offering this type of recreation in the community.”
Ms World started Dance Fun with Sophie in Bundaberg back in 2015 because dancing has always been her passion.
“It’s for those families who just want their children to turn up have fun, enjoy some exercise and fitness and build lasting friendships with other students.”
“We don’t compete in any competitions and there’s no exams – that way there is no pressure.”
Ms World’s philosophy is to be a role model to her students
“Myself and my daughter have danced professionally, so I’ve seen both sides of the equation. Professional dancing isn't for everyone,” she said.
“I remember growing up and at my dance school it was like I had a second family where I was able to create amazing memories from and that’s what I want for these children and youth.”
Dance Fun with Sophie has commenced this term in the Bynoe Hall at Normanton.
Dance classes are on Wednesday from 3.30-7pm.
