The Great Northern Clean Up featured public clean up registration point and fun day, run by Mount Isa City Council and Smoking Gun Café at Mount Isa Plaza in Pioneer.
Councillor Paul Stretton, environmental management portfolio said it was great to see kids and their parents, community groups, and residents turn out for the event.
“We always have a good response from the community who want to do their bit for the environment, and clean up around the community,” Cr Stretton said.
“It’s a major focus for Council year-round for waste collection and litter reduction, but we really enjoying working together with the community for this particular event.”
Council thanked those who attended. “While we are committed to waste and litter control all year round, we especially enjoy working with the community on this special day.,” Council said.
The event is held in the cooler months of the year unlike the Clean Up Australia Day which is held in March.
