When Bob met Scott
In the meeting I had with the new Prime Minister, I took along my history book (An Incredible Race of People) which commenced with an iconic Dame Mary Gilmore poem.

The best selling history book of all time The Fatal Shore by Robert Hughes also commenced with that same poem.
Dame Mary Gilmore is Scott Morrison’s great great aunt.
She rests at the Cloncurry cemetery along with my two uncles (my father was buried in Mount Isa).
I reminded Scott of Dame Mary Gilmore’s other famous poem No Foe Shall Gather our Harvest…
We stand four-square to the tempest,
Whatever the battering hail –
No foe shall gather our harvest,
Or sit on our stockyard rail.
And I reminded Scott that it’s my belief that today the foe is gathering our harvest and I hope that the inspiration of his great great aunt, a literary legend, lives on in Scott.
I believe and hope that it does and that we will see a change to the selling out of our country and the inundation of our country.

Labor cuts Agricultural education funding
How low will the Palaszczuk Labor Government continue its relentless anti-farmer agenda?
Sadly, again last week we saw Annastacia Palaszczuk and Mark Furner’s complete lack of understanding of the bush on display.
The Palaszczuk Labor Government is cutting funding to a hands-on agricultural education program that showcases where food comes from and highlights job opportunities in agriculture to our school aged kids.
This program is vital not only to our farmers, but to Queensland kids.
In the last 14 years, more than 10,000 Queensland school students a year have got to pat cows, see where their food comes from and learn about careers in agriculture.
This program is vital and should never have been on the cutting table.
This funding cut comes as Labor continues with their anti-farmer laws, cuts to biosecurity staff and their inability to deliver a proper Cattle Tick line review.
It is clear that we have a Premier and Agriculture Minister determined to kill off our agriculture sector and harm our rural and regional communities.
It’s time for the Palaszczuk Labor Government to end its anti-farmer crusade and restore the funding to the agriculture education program.

Mount Isa Rodeo vendor unhappy
I’m a vendor at the rodeo, and have been for longer then ten years.
Every year we all have the same problems, and the committee do not give a hoot.
We are locked in at night time like wild dogs.
This year my wife had to climb a fence to get back into the rodeo grounds where we pay for camping, upon this she hurt her leg and taken to hospital.
I will be seeking compensation for this, we waited over half an hour to get a security to open the gate.
However the rodeo office didn’t want to listen to this matter.
Secondly we are forced into a cashless form of payments, thus deterring customers to spend with the vendors and sales are plummeting because this eliminates the spontaneous spending.
We are getting so many complaints from customers already.
I spend a lot of money here in town while we are all here, and I’m afraid to say we might not be back next year.
