The 2018 Premiers team struggled from the start as the more agile Cloncurry team slipped passed in an embarrassing succession of tries.
Cloncurry rugby union coach David Hall said they altered their initial game plan to utilise their forwards out wide.
“And we used our backs best asset, their agility and speed,” Hall said.
Historically the Euros are a sizeable pack producing powerful tackles and first-rate ball skills, however Hall said despite Cloncurry’s win they will not become complacent.
“Yes, it was a good win but we need to keep moving forward, we’re not going to become complacent, we know the Euros are a strong team so we will be ready again next time we play them.”
Hall said their defense, line speed and fitness got them over the line.
Cloncurry’s five-eight player Alex Rossi scored 4 tries during the slaughter.
