Disaster assistance funds will be made available for Sydney residents impacted by severe hail storms and flooding which lashed the city.

The storms, which struck the city's inner suburbs and west between December 13 and December 21, damaged roofs, awnings and solar panels with tennis and golf ball-sized hailstones smashing car windshields.
Flash flooding also impacted cars and homes.
Federal Assistant Home Affairs Minister Linda Reynolds and NSW Emergency Services Minister Troy Grant on Friday announced a disaster recovery fund had been made available for affected residents in Sydney's Hornsby, Parramatta, Campbelltown, the Hills and Sutherland local government areas.
The funds will give those most affected "peace of mind" by providing financial support while they get back on their feet, Senator Reynolds said.
"These storms and floods occurred over several days causing extensive damage to homes, power lines and other public infrastructure, which resulted in major disruption to communities," she said in a statement on Friday.
Mr Grant said the funds will help cover the cost of clean-up and ensure damaged public infrastructure can be repaired.
Assistance is available to people who are uninsured, have sustained damage to their homes or contents and to councils to assist with clean up costs.
