The inaugural Karumba Barra and Blues festival will be held on the May Labour Day long weekend, with a big crowd expected to head to the Gulf for a weekend of top entertainment.
To be held May 4-5, the event features a showpiece concert and there will also be plenty of other events including guided tours of the newly opened Les Wilson Barramundi Discovery Centre.
The festival opens on Saturday May 4 with an all day concert from 11am to 5pm featuring Ash Grunwald, Emily Wurramara, Tim Griffin and Split Image.
Grunwald has issued eight studio albums and has received five nominations for ARIA Music Awards and his song Longtime was named Blues & Roots Work of the Year at the 2013 APRA Awards.
Wurramara, a singer-songwriter who hails from Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory released her debut EP Black Smoke in 2016, containing stories in English and her traditional language Anindilyakwa. The EP amassed a million Spotify streams and saw Emily tour nationally and internationally.
Tim Griffin is a blues and roots artist based in North Queensland who has toured extensively in Australia and overseas since 2010.
