Oxfam Trailwalker Melbourne is held on the weekend of the 29-30 March and will see the two Mount Isa teams along with many others walk from Lysterfield to Fairfield, over a 36-hour period.
Team 'It will be fun and we may be crazy' and 'It will be fun no mean feet', have been training during the daylight hours and into the darkness of night in preparation for the tough physical and mental challenge.
With every step they take, they raise money to tackle poverty around the world.
Team member Karen Donaldson said both teams begin their trek at 7am on the Friday of the walk.
"Each team of four sticks together through out the whole 36-hours," Donaldson said.
The option to camp is available but these go-getters are planning to walk the whole 100km without sleeping.
"We're aware a lot of the trek will be a mental challenge especially at stupid o'clock in the morning. That's why we stick together to support one another.
"We have all been training together and gotten to know each others weaknesses and strengths," she said.
The teams are prepared, carrying head lamps for the night walk, water, nutritional drinks, snacks and mandatory gear such as a first aid kit, extra shoes and clothing.
A support crew will meet the teams near Melbourne.
"At two of the checkpoints, the support crew can meet us, so that helps assist us with carrying a lesser load."
