On Saturday April 6, MIHA will commence its 21 week competition, but still have spots to fill across all divisions.
Mount Isa Hockey Association president Ryan Philip said a couple of teams were still short on players after the Club Championship.
"The Club Championship has been a pre-season recruiting tool. It was a good opportunity for adults and children to come down and try the sport before the premiership season started," Mr Philip said.
"We need more numbers across the board. Under 8s we just do a mixed competition, Under 12s we have one team struggling for numbers so we need five or six more players. Under 16s is pretty good, the women's teams are good but there is a men's team struggling for numbers."
Mr Philip said interested players did not need to have any experience.
"Anyone can come and have a go; experienced or new players," he said.
"Interested players do not have to go out and buy hockey gear straight away, we have some gear here that people can use to see if they want to join the sport.
"Mount Isa Hockey is a very family friendly sport and we have a lot of families with all members taking part.
"Hockey is a skilful sport and very good for hand and eye coordination. It is an Olympics and Commonwealth Games sport too, so that is something for the kids to aim for."
This year the Mount Isa Hockey Association is hoping to send away representative teams across all divisions.
"This will include Under 13s boy and girl teams, Under 15s boy and girl teams and an Under 18s boys team," Mr Philip said.
"State titles this year will be held in Toowoomba, Mackay, Warwick and Townsville. This provides a good opportunity to trip away and mesh with other players in the state.
"Last year we got second and third in the state for our boys rep teams - which was a great result."
