Police say a group of boys attempted to steal a taxi, after robbing and assaulting a taxi driver.
Police said one of the boys approached the taxi, assaulted the taxi driver and chased him up the street before the tax driver returned to the taxi to find another boy searching the car.
The second boy exited the taxi, and waved a handful of bank notes in the driver's face, before running off.
Around $400-$500 was stolen from the vehicle.
Police will allege that upon arrival, they observed a boy lying on the roadway at the rear of the taxi. The boy jumped out and ran towards an officer, striking her in the cheek and jaw. He was immediately arrested for serious assault.
A 13-year-old Townview boy has been charged with robbery, unlawful entry of a vehicle, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle and serious assault of a police officer causing bodily harm.
A 15-year-old Sunset boy has been charged with robbery and unlawful entry of a vehicle.
They will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act and investigations are continuing.
