In its fourth consecutive year Gecko Outdoor Sports will host its 100 kilometre charity run Duchess Dusk to Dawn, on Saturday June 8.
Six teams have already registered for the event, with coordinator Alison Whitehead calling for more competitors.
"Teams can register up to 10 runners to take part in the 100 kilometre event from Duchess to Mount Isa," Ms Whitehead said.
"Teams will start at Duchess at 6pm and run through the night to Mount Isa in 14 hours, meeting at Bendall Drive at 8am.
"All teams must organise their own support crew and pass through each check point along the way."
Ms Whitehead said there were many ways teams could tackle the competition.
"Over the years I have seen many different strategies. Some teams do 10 kilometres stretch each, while other teams do one kilometre quick sprint turn overs," she said.
"We don't put any stipulation on how long each person needs to run for, or what area they need to run in.
"It is very rare to see people who have one or two people in a team but it is feasible for people to do it, they just need to finish in the 14 hour window."
Held as a fundraiser, Duchess Dusk to Dawn nominations will be donated to Cloncurry-based charity Sisters of the North.
"The Sisters of the North are supporting North West families who were devastated by the flood in February and are doing some great work," Ms Whitehead said.
"Mount Isa was fortunate not to be as badly affected as much as eastern communities so we want to support those affected.
"In previous years we have raised between $2000 to $4000 taking out the cost of running the event, and this year we hope to raise a similar amount."
