Glencore Mount Isa Mines has confirmed ammonia gas was detected by its monitoring systems in the chiller plant in Mount Isa on Sunday.

A Mount Isa Mines said the incident happened around 3pm, Sunday July 28.
The spokesperson said emergency procedures were activated after which the area was immediately evacuated and QFES responded to the incident.
"There were no injuries and an investigation into the incident has commenced," the Mount Isa Mines spokesperson said.
"It is business as usual at our mining and processing operations today (Monday, July 29)."
