The competition began with three teams and before too long became just two.
Townies and Black Stars had to combine while Wanderers remained on their own.
Playing against the same team week in week out was difficult.
But this Saturday the long season will all be worth it when the young men run out onto the field in front of a big crowd.
Not only will it be the pre-game to the A grade final but also their very own grand final.
Wanderers head coach Paul Smith said although it's been a long season he was proud of his boys.
"Even with all the setbacks there has been so much dedication shown by all the boys," Mr Smith said.
"Sometimes it's been hard to keep the boys interested as playing the same team every week can get monotonous.
"Some weeks we have to loan players to either side and full credit to them as they always make it competitive and have a go, its good to see them maturing into young men."
Mr Smith said both teams have talented players so the competition remained close every week.
"The rivalry between the clubs has been great, it's what has kept these boys in it for the whole season," he said.
Mr Smith said playing on grand final Saturday will mean the world to the boys.
"They have been playing last on Sundays after all the junior games and often not many people hang around and watch them play," he said.
"Our game before the A grade final will be massive for the boys, they are all really excited to be playing in front of a crowd," he said.
If you were planning on watching the senior men's A grade final get down a little earlier and show your support for the future generation of players, it will mean a lot to them.
