The five day challenge in aid of the Royal Flying Doctor Service covers 590km of the Simpson Desert from Mt Dare to Birdsville but as part of it there is a free cycling event around Birdsville called 'the Unicorn Cup" on Day 1, Monday September 30.
It is a public cycle - open to anyone with a bike and will be 21km long (a course of three 7km laps) on sealed and gravel roads.
The route will have course markers assisting with route navigation.
It starts at 3pm with registration at the Birdsville pub.
