A myriad of authentic Aussie experiences will be taking place across Winton during Australia's quirkiest festival from today (Tuesday September 24) until Saturday September 28.
The first day of the festival marks Day One of the Outback Iron Man, Outback Iron Woman and Masters of The Outback challenges that will see competitors test their strength and endurance in a series of outback challenges throughout the week.
Up and coming music star Heath Milner will be kicking off the live entertainment on the Main Stage with multiple sets throughout the day, warming up the crowds for the Outback Festival Spectacular Opening Evening Concert at Winton Shire Hall. Multi Award Winning performer Darren Coggan will be welcoming visitors to Winton with his tribute act to Glen Campbell, 'Like A Rhinestone Cowboy'.
Winton's main street will be a hive of action all day with special acrobatic country storytelling performances by high energy duo The CrackUp Sisters, live cooking demonstrations by Ranger Nick and David Hudson, and an egg throwing competition to test the skills of both young and old.
The high energy of the festival's opening day will continue on through the week with a myriad of authentic Aussie experiences from Outback Iron Juniors to bush tucker and camp oven cooking, a Monster Truck Show, evening concert series and a new evening laser installation down Winton's main street.
For the smaller outback champions, the Little Swaggies events and Outback Iron Juniors challenge will be running throughout the week alongside the Whip Cracking Challenge, Wool Bale Rolling, Egg Throwing and Wobble Board Painting activities to keep the tykes entertained and unleash their inner Outback champ.
Live entertainment will be taking place week long with an incredible line-up of music acts ready to perform in a series of concerts. The Friday Night Concert Series on Friday September 27 will see country singer-songwriter sister duo Innocent Eve and the 1 RAR Rock Band joined by Frankie H Holden & Wilbur Wilde along with the Absolutely 80's show with Brian Mannix (Uncanny X-Men), Scott Carne (Kids In The Kitchen) and Dale Ryder (Boom Crash Opera).
The Outback Thunda Concert Series on Saturday 28th September will close out the festival with some of Australia's best-loved artists and tribute acts. The Chantoozies, will be joined by rising star Brad Butcher and tribute acts ACCA DACCA and the Chili Peppers Tribute Band to round out the line-up.
A high-octane family Monster Truck show will take place on Saturday night, featuring a hilarious comedy car show with Dipsy & Tipsy Rolly Polly Cars, local mini bike rave demonstration, monster truck Tug-A-War and the Spirit of Australia car crush.
Complementing the ticketed concert series are a host of free live music acts and performances that will be taking place on the Winton main street every day of the festival. Along with celebrated rising country music star Heath Milner, the high energy quirky group the Hillbilly Goats will be keeping guests entertained. The main street will also be seeing a number of performances by The Crack Up Sisters, a country comedy and acrobatics acts, Leapin Louie, an American comedy stunt performer, and the Memphis Movers Roving Duo providing a carnival atmosphere.
For the foodies, the Sunset Extravaganza Charity Dinner is this year to be prepared by celebrity chef Matt Golinski. The strictly limited special event is a special dinner that will take place underneath the outback stars in aid of the Royal Flying Doctor Service on Thursday 26th September. Out in the main street, Ranger Nick & David Hudson will be hosting their 'Black Fella White Fella Bush Cooking' demonstrations throughout the week.
Never to be forgotten is the star of the festival, the quirkiest event of them all - The Quilton Australian Outback Dunny Derby - to take place on Friday 27th September. Following the Parade of Entrants, the races will begin with teams vying it out with their Dunny to be crowned champions of the Dunny Derby!
