The big crowd was enthralled by a great day's racing on Saturday with several close finishes in the five-race card.
In Race 1 the Brodie and Co Maiden Plate over 1000m, it seemed like a toss of a coin might have to decide the winner but it was trainer Shryn Royes' Toss of a Coin with Jason Hoopert aboard that stormed home to win by half a length from Principle and Gotta Minute.
Race 2 was the Woodham Petroleum Services Benchmark 60 Handicap also over 1000m and it gave champion silk Dan Ballard his only win of the day aboard Crystal Bear for trainer Jim Jackson.
Crystal Bear won by one and half lengths from Brave Jewel and Temerity.
In Race 3 the Cloncurry Tyre and Batteries / CTI Batteries Open Handicap again over 1000m, Jay Morris's Yarrapower was the heavily backed $1.30 favourite.
But it seemed the veteran Wicked Wiki was going to win but Yarrapower stormed home by four fifths of a length to give jocket Hoopert his second win.
Clateau finished third.
In Race 4 the Thynne and Macartney Benchmark 45 Handicap over 1200m, Jim Jackson's Seriously Happy ($2.80) was the only one of two fancied contenders who showed up on the day.
Jockey Tim Brummell rode an expert race to lead Seriously Happy to victory from Moving Target by half a length with Short Term third. Favourite Text Me ($2.40) missed the message and finished second last.
Race 5 was the Gary Cannon Memorial Class 4 Plate over 1400m and it proved to be a last race roughie.
The $17 shot Blue Monte trained by Tanya Parry, gave Brummell his second successive winner.
Blue Monte won by one and a half lengths from Makatiti and Prince of Baroda.
