Between 8pm on Sunday January 5, and 7am on Monday January 6, it is alleged two boys attended a Nineteenth Avenue address, located a set of vehicle keys and drove a Toyota Rav4 away.
Between 1am and 3am, the vehicle was observed driving erratically and at high speeds along Marian Street and surrounding side streets near the CBD. The vehicle was seen to conduct several dangerous manoeuvres and at one point narrowly avoid a road train.
This dangerous manner of driving was captured on City Safe CCTV cameras and by members of the public.
During this same period, two boys allegedly attended a Marian Street motel and entered a vehicle, locating a set of keys in the door. Using the keys, it is alleged the boys unlocked a padlock securing a motorcycle to the tray of the vehicle.
Between 2am and 3am, City Safe CCTV cameras and members of the public filmed a boy riding this motor cycle dangerously along Marian Street, through the CBD and surrounds. The boy was not wearing a helmet and appeared to be filming himself on a mobile phone.
It is further alleged the boy approached a police vehicle from behind when it was stationary at a red traffic light and accelerated past them, straight through the intersection.
The boy continued to follow police and accelerate away from them on a number of occasions. At times, the boy was riding on the wrong side of the road, accelerating through intersections and red lights and narrowly missing other vehicles.
